FFA Members Engage at State Capitol and Cenarrusa NWACC-FFA Legislative Luncheon

On January 23, 2023, over 250 Idaho FFA members joined 50 Idaho Legislators and numerous agricultural industry representatives and other state government officials during the Cenarrusa NWACC-FFA Legislative Luncheon.

Freda Cenarrusa was the guest of honor as the event bears the name of her late husband, community servant and rancher, Pete Cenarrusa. This year we learned this is the last year Mrs. Cenarrusa plans to join in person as she plans to turn the honor over to her sons. It has been a great honor to have her in attendance for decades!

We were honored that Lt. Governor Scott Bedke made remarks and presented Idaho FFA with a proclamation signed by Governor Brad Little declaring February 18-25, 2023, as FFA Week in Idaho.

After the legislative luncheon, Idaho FFA members enjoyed engaging agricultural industry through a Career Fair facilitated by the Idaho FFA Foundation. After members visited the career fair, most of them headed to the State Capitol where they experienced tours, scavenger hunts in the Capitol, met with constitutional officers, visited with legislators, and observed legislative committee meetings. Finally, members met the Governor and Lieutenant Governor on the steps of the Capitol for a photo.

After members’ Capitol experiences, they dined together at The Riverside Hotel and then dove into the first half of the Boise Gem State Leadership Conference facilitated by current and past FFA state officers. 425 FFA members participated in the conference, which concluded late morning of Tuesday, January 24th.
